counter-transference

Once, I went to a Christmas party in the Mission at a miniature model fabrication house my brother was working for, creating scale models of areas of the Bay Bridge for potential construction project managers to interact, touch and climb around while planning their endeavors without having to actually scale the real Bay Bridge. Its far less dangerous to examine a diagonal reinforcement from a warehouse on Valencia than to have to hang from the real bridge’s underbelly with water waiting 200 feet below and a few hundred cars a minuted rumbling above.

The party was mostly boring, but Bliss was completely captivating. She was psych PhD candidate with onyx eyes and an easy laugh. Sometime during our fleeting week of verbal fencing and midnight wrestling, she challenged me to illustrate the concept of counter-transference via an 80’s television show.

This is what I came up with.

We stopped meeting up before I got a chance to ask her if it was anywhere near an accurate representation of the concept, in her professional opinion…but at a minimum it did earn a smile from her that night.
