Pasta Dishes, Food And Drink Around Fire Pits
If you’re looking to add flavor to your vegetables, consider spicing them up with hickory or mesquite. Mix pasta with grilled veggies, and you’ve got a yummy Mediterranean meal with versatility your family will really love.
Vegetables such as asparagus, zucchini, squash, portabello mushrooms, red onions, and sweet red banana peppers are just a few of the countless vegetables that pair well with pasta. Pick vegetables that do not have discoloration or tender spots when looking for ones to cook in outdoor firepits.
Once you select your veggies, choose a pasta variety and flavor. A variety of chefs will tell you that wheat and spinach pastas are well accented by a side of grilled vegetables. Since grilled vegetables are often chopped into 2 inch chunks, a hearty pasta like penne or shells is recommended.
Once you’re done shopping, the first course to prepare is pasta. Fill a four-quart pot approximately three fourths from the top with water. Throw in a dash of salt and a couple olive drops, then boil it. Add eight ounces of pasta to boiling water and cooking accordingly for an al dente finish. Drain cooked pasta completely then keep it from cooking further by rinsing with cold water. Allow to drain well and turn into a metal pot or clay serving bowl capable of fire pit heating. Add a half cup of extra virgin olive oil to the pasta.
Then should should chop each veggie into a chunk approximately a couple of inches long. It is very important that the vegetables are a uniform cut in order to grill them evenly over the fire pit. Pour many tablespoons of olive oil into a bowl of mid size. Throw in dashes of pepper, marjoram, and garlic powder. Coat vegetables by tossing them, one at a time, in a bowl. Next, remove them to a large platter, making sure to keep them separate. To coat every veggie, do the process again. Let’s grill once the seasoning is on the food.
Layer some lightly greased tin foil on top of a section of your grill. Cook the vegetables, wrapped in foil, as specified. Whereas peppers, asparagus, and zucchini take ten to twelve minutes to cook , onions and mushrooms would be ready in seven minutes. Factor in that grilled vegetables have to be turned frequently. Set the pasta to a warm area of the pit while the veggies are grilling. Once the vegetables are grilled, spoon into the pasta. Use grill mitts or potholders to take the pasta container off of the grill. You will want to gently stir pasta with vegetables until they are blended. Top it off with some grated Romano cheese. Once it’s prepared you need to serve this pasta dish quickly.
