Getting to Tulum ✈️

Tulum is approximately 1.5 hr drive south of Cancun airport (CUN).  Major airlines with service at the Cancun International Airport include: American Airlines, Delta, United, Southwest and JetBlue.  Valid passports are required for travel into Mexico.

The drive to Tulum is on a well-paved, four-lane highway. It's relatively easy to get a taxi directly to your hotel.

At your arrival you can get a taxi or other transportation however it is likely to be cheaper if you sort it out in advance. For booking your transportation Airport-Hotel-Airport you can get in touch with our friend Arturo:

Getting Around

The Tulum beach road is easy to get around by bike or on foot. Most hotels rent bikes by the day.  Taxis are the only option to get around and regulated by the local taxi union.  Taxis are plentiful and safe and average ride in btw Tulum is $5 to $10 USD.

Credit Cards are accepted at established restaurants and hotels.  Credit cards offer the best exchange rate too.

Yet we highly recommend bringing pesos with you or USD.  Money exchange centers do exist in Tulum yet the exchange rates aren't the best.  Note also that US dollars also accepted in most places, including taxis.
